Reija Lang was announced as a winner of the Finnish Vocal Jazz Contest "Lady Summertime" in 2002. Her alto voice is very expressive, moving from childlike innocence and beauty to surreal drama - and she prefers using the whole scale of human voice when telling the story. In addition to her voice qualities her intuitive feel for rhythm makes her a true improviser.
Reija is a versatile performer - and she prefers to explore different music and art features and styles. She has strong roots in swing/mainstream/bebop and therefore she can move with ease around different genres. Either singing jazz standards and arranged big band music with style - or experimenting the contemporary music and absolutely free improvisation with no limits.
